On the afternoon of March 10, VPF Company held a conference to deploy preparations for organizing the 2025/26 National Professional Football Tournaments. One of the notable contents that many teams are interested in is the foreign player quota to compete in the V.League.

In the spirit of collecting general opinions, VPF received feedback from some clubs about increasing the number of foreign players registered in the whole tournament to 5 people, but only using 3 players on the field. Currently, clubs are allowed to register 3 players and use all 3 players on the field. Teams participating in the Asian Cup and Southeast Asian Cup are allowed to register 5 players in the V.League and use 3.

In case of increasing the foreign player quota, teams participating in the Asian Cup and Southeast Asian Cup can register 7-9 foreign players, but this draft has not been approved.

In addition, some important contents in the plan to organize professional football tournaments for the 2025/26 season were presented and comments were sought from the clubs. In particular, the plan to organize the 2025/26 season was one of the top contents of interest.

Based on the plans of the national teams, the Resolutions at the meetings of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the Resolution of the VFF Annual Congress, VPF Company presented 2 competition plan options for the 2025/26 season. This option was sent to professional clubs for comments before the conference took place.

Option 1, the 2025/26 season starts with the National Super Cup on August 9, 2025, V.League opens from August 15, 2025 and is expected to end on June 18, 2026. In addition to the FIFA Days breaks as prescribed, option 1 also has an additional break of about 2 months to make room for the 33rd SEA Games and U23 Vietnam to compete in the U23 Asian finals.

Option 2, the U23 team does not participate in the U23 Asian finals, the expected start and end time of the season is similar to option 1, however, in addition to the FIFA Days break, there will only be an additional 1-month break for the 33rd SEA Games.
