On the evening of November 23, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Le Trung Chinh and Major General Vu Xuan Vien, Director of the City Police Department, and a working delegation visited and expressed condolences to the family of Mr. Tran Minh Thanh (50 years old, residing in Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city).
Mr. Thanh was murdered while chasing two robbers at the BIDV Bank branch on Ngu Hanh Son street on the afternoon of November 22.
At Le Dai Hanh funeral home, on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Le Trung Chinh sent his condolences and encouraged the victim's family to overcome the pain and loss, and also gave 50 million VND in support to help Mr. Thanh's wife and daughter stabilize their lives.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Mr. Thanh's action of chasing the criminal showed his bravery, fighting crime to the end and dedication to work, which is very admirable.
Mr. Le Trung Chinh said that the City People's Committee has proposed that the Central Government consider posthumously awarding the Medal of Courage to Mr. Tran Minh Thanh.
As reported by VietNamNet, at around 1:45 p.m. on November 22, two subjects Nguyen Manh Cuong (25 years old, residing in An Phu village, Que My commune, Que Son district, Quang Nam province) and Tran Van Tri (22 years old, residing in Hoa Son commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang) went to the BIDV bank branch (No. 169 Ngu Hanh Son street) to rob property.
Inside, Tri took a gun and fired a shot into the air to threaten the staff and security guards there. Cuong took a knife to the counter and threatened to force the teller to hand over money.
At this time, security guard Mr. Tran Minh Thanh resolutely stopped and fought back fiercely. The two subjects had not yet taken any property and were forced to find a way to escape and run away.
As soon as they got on the car, the locals and bank employees quickly approached, knocked the car over and restrained and arrested Tran Van Tri. Meanwhile, Nguyen Manh Cuong quickly ran away. Seeing this, security guard Thanh immediately chased after him.
When Mr. Thanh approached, Cuong turned around and attacked, stabbing the male security guard in the back, then fled the scene of the crime.
Mr. Thanh was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment and died there, while Cuong was arrested by the police later.
