On the morning of August 3, during the physical test of the referee training program before the season, a referee suddenly had health problems. As soon as the abnormal signs were detected, the medical team quickly implemented active resuscitation measures for circulation and respiration, and transferred the referee to the hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
Representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VPF Company and the Referee Board were present at the hospital to closely monitor the situation. Currently, relevant departments continue to closely coordinate with medical facilities to support treatment.
The physical test is the first part of the training program for referees and assistant referees ahead of the new season. This is a mandatory part according to FIFA regulations to assess the ability to perform duties in national professional football tournaments in 2025/26.
The physical fitness test was held in the morning to limit the effects of the prolonged hot weather. The organizing committee arranged 4 ambulances and medical teams on duty at the stadium to ensure maximum safety for the participants.
A total of 62 referees and assistant referees attended the physical fitness test. Of these, 55 passed, reaching a rate of 88.7%. Completing the test is a mandatory condition for being assigned to work in national professional football tournaments in the 2025/26 season. Before that, all referees must submit a complete health examination dossier according to the regulations in Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT.
In the afternoon of the same day, the referees continued to participate in the theoretical test related to VAR technology. In addition, the program also includes video analysis sessions, drawing lessons from controversial situations of the previous season, while focusing on consolidating professional knowledge and improving skills in handling real situations. The training will last until August 7.
