On the morning of January 30, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed an urgent document to send to relevant departments and units requesting preparation of necessary conditions to open traffic and organize traffic flow on Prenn Pass.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee agreed to allow all means of transport (except trucks) to travel in both directions on the Prenn Pass route starting from 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (January 31); the maximum speed on the Prenn Pass route is not more than 60 km/hour.
Traffic organization on lanes by signs, including: Lanes close to the center of the road will be for cars; lanes close to the curb are mixed lanes for cars, motorbikes...
Prenn Pass is currently one of the widest mountain passes in the country.
Lam Dong Provincial Police are assigned to direct the establishment of traffic checkpoints on the Prenn Pass route to guide traffic; at the same time, they will be on duty to ensure safety and regulate traffic from January 31 to February 3 and from February 10 to February 12 (the first, second, and third days of the Lunar New Year 2024).
Traffic police must regularly patrol and check to ensure traffic order and safety on Prenn Pass to promptly regulate, guide, and separate traffic flows in accordance with the actual situation.
This mountain pass has 4 lanes.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested to hire and arrange 2 rescue vehicles on duty 24/7 from February 10 to February 12 in 2 areas between Mimosa Pass and Prenn Pass to promptly handle situations when traffic accidents occur.
The project to upgrade and expand Prenn Pass is invested by the Lam Dong Provincial Traffic Project Management Board (started in February 2023). The entire pass is nearly 7.4 km long, the roadbed is 15.5 m wide, the road surface is 14.5 m wide; the total investment capital is more than 552 billion VND from the State budget.
With the opening of the entire Prenn Pass, the traffic "bottleneck" in and out of Da Lat City has been removed, solving the local traffic jam at the gateway to this city, especially during holidays and Tet when there are often many tourists coming here.
