AFP reported on October 10 that Peskov said that testing equipment in the early stages of Covid-19 was ineffective and in short supply, so countries tried to exchange with each other. The US sending test kits to Russia is part of an international exchange.

"We sent some ventilators to the US, they also sent us test kits," Russia's Moskovskij Komsomolets newspaper quoted Mr. Peskov as telling reporters on October 10.

Previously, in the book titled " War" by American journalist Bob Woodward, which is about to be published, part of the content was revealed, which mentioned that in 2020, former President Donald Trump sent Covid-19 test kits to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mr Woodward also cited Mr Trump's aides as saying that former President Trump and Mr Putin had spoken seven times since 2021. Mr Dmitry Peskov denied this information. "We sent equipment at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, but the information about the calls is incorrect," he said.

Former US President Trump on October 8 affirmed that he did not contact or send Covid-19 testing equipment to Russian President Putin. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said that Trump did not give Woodward access to write a book, Bloomberg reported on October 9.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris used the book's content to attack Mr. Trump, criticizing him for sending testing equipment to Mr. Putin at a time when the US was short of such equipment.
