People rush to buy books by Nobel Prize-winning writer Han Kang

News agency Yonhap According to the Korea Times, about 530,000 copies of Han Kang's book were sold out in Korea from the afternoon of October 10 to the afternoon of October 13. Kyobo Book Center sold about 260,000 copies and the commercial site Yes24 sold 270,000 copies.

The work by Han Kang swept the top 11 spots on the bestseller lists at Kyobo and Yes24. A bookstore representative confirmed that there was a shortage of supply.

Writer Han Kang was born in 1970, the daughter of novelist Han Seung Won. She began her literary career at the age of 23. Han Kang's name became more widely known to international readers in 2016, when the book Vegetarian won the International Booker Prize.

Although considered one of the most influential writers in Korea, Han Kang chose to live a private life.
