Dien Bien soldiers visit A1 Martyrs Cemetery

The delegation offered flowers at the A1 National Martyrs Cemetery.

More than 100 Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers from 7 provinces were present in Dien Bien to join the delegation. Although they were old and extremely emotional when returning to the old battlefield, the elders still tried to visit and burn incense for their fallen comrades.

Delegates observed a moment of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who remained on the old battlefield.

The delegation was led by Comrade Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Accompanying the delegation were Comrade Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President; leaders of socio -political organizations, central departments...

Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers are all over 90 years old. Police officers help them burn incense at each of their comrades' graves.

On the side of Dien Bien province, there were comrade Lo Van Mung, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Pham Duc Toan, member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of provincial departments, branches and provinces with delegates participating in the program.

The elders personally lit incense for their comrades resting at A1 Martyrs Cemetery.

A1 Martyrs Cemetery is one of four martyrs cemeteries during the anti-French period, the resting place mainly for martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. In the fierce bombardment, to gain independence and freedom for the nation, to create a victory that "resounded throughout the five continents, shook the earth", thousands of the Fatherland's elite children did not spare their blood and bones, fought until their last breath, and remained forever on this land. 70 years after liberation, the remains of many martyrs have been gathered, buried and cared for in cemeteries in Dien Bien province. However, most of them have not been identified.

The old Dien Bien soldiers are all old and very emotional when they return to visit the old battlefield.

At the incense offering ceremony, the delegation lit incense sticks, expressed gratitude, remembrance, and respectfully bowed before the souls of the heroes and martyrs. At the same time, they affirmed that the contributions of the heroes and martyrs will be remembered forever by future generations.
