Rename 2 universities in Hanoi

GD&TĐ - Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed Decisions on renaming two universities in Hanoi city.

Specifically, in Decision No. 1483/QD-TTg, Hanoi University of Procuracy was renamed University of Procuracy, headquartered in Hanoi city.

In Decision No. 1485/QD-TTg, Hanoi University of Industry was renamed Hanoi University of Industry and Commerce, headquartered in Hanoi city.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training , the Hanoi People's Committee and relevant agencies, according to their functions, tasks and authority, to guide and supervise the renaming process to ensure transparency, prevent negativity, loss and waste of finance and assets; not affect the normal and continuous operation of the school; ensure the legitimate and legal rights and interests of students, lecturers, managers, employees and related organizations and individuals according to the provisions of law.

The predecessor of the Procuracy University was the School of Continuing Education and Training for Procuracy Cadres, established in 1970. The school has undergone several name changes: Hanoi Procuracy College (1981 - 2005); School of Training and Fostering Procuracy Profession (2005 - 2013); Hanoi Procuracy University (from 2013 to present).

Before being renamed Hanoi University of Industry and Commerce, Hanoi University of Industry was an application-oriented public school, formerly the Garment Technical Training School established in 1967. In 2015, the school was upgraded to Hanoi University of Industry.
