Vietnam Muay Team ranked first overall at the Asian Championship

After a week of exciting competition, on the evening of June 25, the 2025 Asian Muay Championship ended at Thai Nguyen Provincial Gymnasium with the overall first place belonging to the Vietnamese Muay team.

The Vietnamese Muay team performed excellently, leading the whole delegation with a total of 46 medals including 14 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals. This result shows the clear superiority of the Vietnamese delegation compared to the remaining opponents. In second place is the UAE delegation with a total of 16 medals including 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals. In third place is Kazakhstan with 20 medals of all kinds (7 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals).

The delegations in the Southeast Asian region ranked from fourth to seventh respectively: Thailand with 10 medals of all kinds (6 gold, 4 silver); Philippines won 10 medals (5 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze); Malaysia won 5 medals of all kinds (2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze); Indonesia with a total of 8 medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze).

The tournament was held from June 20 to 25, bringing together more than 300 coaches, athletes, and referees from 19 countries and territories. Athletes competed for 50 sets of medals in 28 combat weight categories and 8 technical performance events. The Vietnamese sports delegation had 50 athletes participating.

According to Head Coach of the National Muay Team Duong Ngoc Hai, in terms of professional quality, the National Muay Team has shown much progress compared to previous tournaments. "However, we are not allowed to rest on our laurels. After this tournament, athletes need to continue to train to prepare for other international tournaments.

Our formidable opponents are still Thailand, Kazakhstan and UAE... Only with careful preparation and the highest determination can we continue to succeed," said head coach Duong Ngoc Hai.
