The Xing'an wind power project, with an annual power generation capacity of over 10 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), was connected to the grid on December 10, according to the operator, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN). It is one of China's first large-scale wind and solar power facilities in the desert.

With 701 wind turbine generators and a combined installed capacity of 3 million kW, the electricity produced by the plant is very environmentally friendly, helping to reduce the consumption of about 2.96 million tons of standard coal and prevent the emission of about 8.02 million tons of carbon dioxide.

"The 3 million kW Xing'an wind power project will provide clean energy to promote China's 2060 carbon neutrality goal, promote socioeconomic development and revitalize rural areas in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region," said Yang Changli, chairman of CGN.

Through this wind power facility, the installed capacity of CGN's new power generation facilities operating in China is expected to reach 45 million kW by the end of the year, including wind power, solar power, solar thermal power, hydrogen power, etc. CGN's more than 570 new energy power generation facilities are distributed across 30 provinces and cities in China.
