On the afternoon of August 3 in Hanoi , the National Data Association (NDA) held an Executive Committee meeting to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and develop work directions for the last 6 months of 2025.
General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security , Chairman of the National Data Association chaired the Conference.
The conference was attended by members of the Standing Committee, Executive Committee members, leaders of professional departments and representative members representing more than 750 members of the Association.
The conference took place with many important contents: Reporting on the results of the first 6 months of the year and building the direction of work for the last 6 months of 2025; announcing the Decision to appoint the new Vice President of the Association; Decision to establish the Office, specialized Committees and the Institute of Data Science .
The Association needs to promote efficiency to meet the country's expectations in the digital transformation period.
At the Conference, General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Chairman of the National Data Association chaired and delivered an important speech, affirming the stature of the Association and strategic orientation for the last 6 months of 2025.
Minister, General Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the National Data Association was established with the goal of becoming an organization that brings together leading scientists and business managers in Vietnam. The Minister expressed his pride and great expectations for the Association's members: "I am very proud to see a team of leading scientists, managers, and businesses in Vietnam coming together. The Association needs to promote its effectiveness to meet the country's expectations in the digital transformation period."
According to Minister Luong Tam Quang, the Association is a place to connect and promote the strength of its members, including state and private business owners, along with scientists and research experts. The ultimate goal is to create a close cooperation environment, maximizing the potential of each member to achieve common efficiency.
The Minister affirmed: "If data is not unified and centralized, digital transformation efforts in the economy and society will hardly achieve success. This poses an urgent requirement for the Association to build effective support mechanisms and policies for businesses and organizations."
The speech of the Minister and Chairman of the Association highlighted the key role of data in the digital transformation process. Unconsolidated and unfocused data will hinder all efforts to develop the digital economy and digital society. Therefore, the role of the National Data Association as a bridge, ensuring coordination and unity between parties is extremely important.
General Luong Tam Quang emphasized: "As Chairman of the Association, my ultimate goal is to support businesses and units so that we can develop together." The Minister also affirmed that he will support bringing the voices of the Association's members to the Government, the National Assembly, ministries, state management agencies, and senior leaders of the Party and State, in order to resolve difficulties in mechanisms and policies. The goal is to create the most favorable conditions for businesses and scientists to maximize their capacity, contributing to the overall development of the country. This is a strong desire and commitment of the head of the Association.
The Minister - Chairman of the Association also mentioned two important resolutions, Resolution 57 and Resolution 68, which are directly related to the development of the Association and its member enterprises. According to the Minister, these resolutions have created a legal basis, which is the basis for enterprises to overcome difficulties and promote development.
Minister, Senior General Luong Tam Quang also emphasized the importance of unanimity and moving forward together in the current period, when the country enters a new era, the era of national growth. Quoting General Secretary To Lam at the 12th Central Conference, the Minister said: "In the past, we were running and lining up at the same time. Up to now, the lines have been straight, the road has been cleared, and what is necessary is unanimity to create for mutual development."
Perfecting the organizational structure, establishing strategic orientation
In the report on the results of the first 6 months of the year of the National Data Association, it is stated that the total number of members of the Association is 750, of which 225 members are organizations and enterprises, and 525 are individual members.
Among the enterprises participating in the Association, technology enterprises dominate with 129 enterprises, application enterprises are 94 enterprises, showing the balance between core technology development and practical application.
Notably, 82 enterprises (accounting for nearly 40% of the enterprises participating in the Association) possess large volumes of data and modern management systems, focusing on strategic areas such as healthcare, e-commerce, tourism, education, while the rest are gradually building data systems.
At the Conference, the National Data Association also announced the Decision to establish the Office, Specialized Committees and the Data Science Institute under the Association.
The establishment of the Office, Specialized Boards and the Data Science Institute under the Association marks the first step in perfecting the organizational structure, demonstrating an important step in the process of professionalizing the activities of a focal organization on data.
Accordingly, the Office and specialized Boards are organized in a systematic manner, focusing on each key field; acting as a bridge between professionals, state management agencies, enterprises and social organizations interested in data. This is also an environment to connect, gather, train and promote a team of Vietnamese data experts, a key factor for Vietnam to master technology, infrastructure and data.
As for the Institute of Data Science, this agency is identified as the strategic academic arm of the National Data Association, specializing in research, evaluation, summarizing practices and developing knowledge about data in Vietnam. This will also be the place to develop data analysis tools, provide data strategy consulting, build scientific arguments for data policies, technical standards, measurement methods and data application models in socio-economic development./.
