Teachers selected to teach English online are competent, have good professional qualifications, have an English certificate of 6.5 IELTS or higher, and most of them have attended the city's training course in Autali.

As of March 16, teachers have conducted 632 lessons at 17 secondary schools in Yen Bai province.

To ensure quality, Yen Bai province also sent 118 teachers to assist and support teachers in Hanoi.

Teaching assistants are arranged in the classrooms to support and update students' learning situation, discuss with teachers in Hanoi to unify and adjust teaching plans and schedules.

According to the Department of Education and Training, teachers in Hanoi still have to teach at school, with a tight teaching schedule (19 periods/week), but still have to support Yen Bai in the situation of lacking English teachers.

Mr. Vuong Van Bang, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai, the province has 250 educational institutions with 226,000 students and nearly 14,000 teachers at all levels.

However, when implementing the 2018 general education program, the province lacked teachers at many levels, especially English teachers. Therefore, support in the form of online teaching in urgent situations is very valuable.

To improve the quality of online teaching in this support program, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that professional training for English teachers will be enhanced.

Support for online teaching may be more widespread at other levels of education.

Online English teaching program initiated by Marie Curie School Hanoi

The form of online English teaching support comes from the idea of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, currently the chairman of the education board of Marie Curie School Hanoi.

The school has contracted additional English teachers to support online English teaching for 100% of grade 3 students in Meo Vac district (Ha Giang) in the 2022-2023 school year and continue to follow these students to grade 4 this school year.

Marie Curie School's support has spread. In the 2023-2024 school year, the Lam Dong Department of Education and Training also received support to teach 3rd grade students in Meo Vac.

And the Department of Education and Training implemented this in Yen Bai.

In 2023, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang also decided to spend 12 billion VND to train English teachers for Meo Vac district.
