Vietnamese coffee prices are benefiting from strong demand in the international market. A report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that in the first 7 months of the year, coffee exports increased by 55% in value, reaching 6 billion USD and surpassing the whole of 2024. Germany, Italy and Spain are the leading consuming markets, with Germany being the second largest supplier after Brazil.
Forecasts for showers in Vietnam could boost output, increasing supply and putting pressure on Robusta prices. On the other hand, Arabica inventories on ICE fell to a 14.5-month low, which could provide some price support.

The 50% US tariff on Brazilian coffee that took effect on August 6 is upsetting global trade flows, forcing Brazilian exporters to seek alternative markets, possibly China or the EU.
While the US, the world’s largest coffee consumer, is affected by tariffs, experts say a large amount of Brazilian coffee will be diverted to China, where coffee consumption is skyrocketing. The EU could also become an attractive destination because it does not impose tariffs on Brazilian coffee.
The global market is experiencing a period of great volatility due to a combination of supply and demand factors and trade policies. The shift in global coffee flows from Brazil to new markets such as China and the EU will be one of the key factors shaping coffee prices in the future.
