On May 29, answering VTC News , Mr. Pham Ngoc Thach (Mrs. Le Thi Dung's husband) said that in the upcoming appeal hearing, the family will invite about 3-4 defense lawyers.
"We will invite two lawyers who previously defended us in the first instance trial (lawyer Vu Quang Ninh and lawyer Nguyen Thi Phan Huong). In addition, in the upcoming appeal trial, the family will invite lawyers from Danh Hue Law Firm. The lawyers are currently completing the procedures, but we do not know yet whether the court will allow them to participate or not," Mr. Thach added.
The appeal trial of Ms. Le Thi Dung, former Director of the Continuing Education Center of Hung Nguyen District (Nghe An) is scheduled to take place on June 12. Previously, the People's Procuracy of Nghe An Province had decided to appeal the case, canceling the first instance judgment for re-investigation and re-trial.
The Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee also proposed to ensure the independence of the court according to its jurisdiction, the judge and the jury to try the case independently, and in compliance with the law. The trial of the case according to the appeal procedure must be in accordance with the law, the right person, the right crime, strict, ensuring fairness, objectivity, understanding, and creating consensus in society.

As reported by VTC News , on April 7, 10, 11, 17 and 24, the People's Court of Hung Nguyen District (Nghe An) held a first-instance trial of Ms. Le Thi Dung, former Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education of Hung Nguyen District (Nghe An) for the crime of "Abusing position and power in performing official duties".
According to the indictment, during her work, Ms. Le Thi Dung caused damage to the state budget of nearly 44.7 million VND.
After many days of trial, the Trial Panel sentenced the defendant Le Thi Dung to 5 years in prison. In addition, the Trial Panel also requested the collection of more than 44.7 million VND from the defendant Dung to return to the Hung Nguyen District Continuing Education and Vocational Training Center.
After the court announced the verdict, Ms. Dung filed an appeal against the entire first instance judgment.
