Although Vietnam is one of the world's largest pepper exporters, imports are still strong, reflecting changes in business strategies.
In July 2025, Vietnam's pepper imports fell sharply by 47.8% compared to the previous month, reaching only 3,176 tons. However, in the first 7 months of 2025, the total import volume reached 31,472 tons, an increase of 58.5% compared to the same period in 2024.
The largest suppliers are Brazil (accounting for 52.4%), Cambodia and Indonesia, with prices often lower than the domestic Vietnamese market.
Vietnam's pepper output continues to decline due to the lack of expansion of new planting areas, making domestic supply unable to meet export demand.
Enterprises continue to promote imports for deep processing and re-export, contributing to maintaining vibrant market activities.
