Egg prices fall due to oversupply

According to a survey by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters at some traditional markets in the province such as Thanh Binh market, Dong Ngo Quyen market ( Hai Duong city), Com market, Tan Viet commune (Thanh Ha), the price of poultry eggs has decreased compared to mid-February. Specifically, the price of chicken eggs is from 20,000-22,000 VND/dozen, industrial chicken eggs is 18,000 VND/dozen, duck eggs is 28,000 VND/dozen, balut eggs is 40,000 VND/dozen, quail eggs is 8,000 VND/dozen. These prices have decreased from 7,000-10,000 VND/dozen compared to mid-February.

It is known that after Tet, egg prices often decrease. The reason is that the abundant supply and the humid weather in the North make it impossible to preserve eggs for a long time. Most small farms do not have cold storage, so they have to sell them in bulk while consumer demand is limited.

According to data from the Provincial Statistics Office, the province's egg output (including quail eggs) in February is estimated at more than 51 million eggs, up 2.1% over the same period in 2023.
