World crude oil prices increased sharply
On the morning of July 30, crude oil prices in the international market continued to increase sharply. Brent crude reached 72.5 USD/barrel, up 2.5 USD; WTI crude reached 69.2 USD/barrel, up 2.47 USD. This is the highest level in the past 5 weeks, thanks to optimism from the US-EU trade agreement and concerns that global supply may be disrupted due to new US sanctions against Russia.
US President Donald Trump has set a new deadline for Russia to make progress in ending the conflict in Ukraine. If there is no agreement, the US will impose further sanctions on both Russia and countries that buy its oil. This has raised concerns about supply, sending oil prices soaring.
In addition, the market is also closely watching the US Federal Reserve's (Fed) policy meeting, amid signs that inflation is gradually cooling down.
Domestic gasoline prices continue to fall, oil prices increase slightly
At the operating session on July 24, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance adjusted the retail price of gasoline. Accordingly, E5 RON92 gasoline decreased by 202 VND/liter, to 19,279 VND/liter; RON95-III gasoline decreased by 216 VND/liter, to 19,709 VND/liter.
On the contrary, oil products increased slightly. Diesel increased by 330 VND/liter, to 19,129 VND/liter; kerosene increased by 199 VND/liter, reaching 18,628 VND/liter. Fuel oil alone decreased by 99 VND/kg, to 15,379 VND/kg.

The oil market is still volatile
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, world oil prices have recently been affected by many factors: the US's new import tax policy, the EU's oil sanctions package against Russia, and the escalating situation between Russia and Ukraine. The average price of RON95 gasoline in the most recent operating cycle decreased by about 1.5%, while diesel prices increased by nearly 2%.
Since the beginning of 2025, domestic gasoline prices have been adjusted 29 times, with the number of increases, decreases and opposite sessions almost equal. This shows that the market is still sensitive to global political and economic factors.
