Former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb was elected President of Finland with 51.4% of the vote.

According to local media - national television station Yle, National Coalition candidate Alexander Stubb won the Finnish presidential election on February 11.

Specifically, with 92% of the votes counted, national broadcaster Yle predicted that Mr. Stubb would receive 51.4% of the vote, while independent Green Party candidate Pekka Haavisto would receive 48.6%.

Mr Haavisto conceded defeat and congratulated Mr Stubb on his victory. "Congratulations to the 13th President of Finland, Mr Alexander," Mr Haavisto said.

Mr Stubb served as Prime Minister of Finland from 2014 to 2015, while Mr Haavisto also held a number of cabinet ministerial positions.

In Finland, the president is the head of state, the supreme commander of the armed forces, and coordinates foreign policy with the government .

The current volatile geopolitical landscape in Europe is said to be the main concern of the Finnish president-elect this time.
