Goods through Vung Tau seaport increase sharply

In 2024, cargo throughput through Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport will increase by 23% compared to 2023.


According to Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, in 2024, the total cargo throughput through Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport will be more than 138.2 million tons, exceeding the annual plan by 23% and increasing by 23% compared to 2023. Cargo output in Teu will reach more than 10.8 million Teu, an increase of 34% compared to 2023.

Cargo volume through seaports will increase, and the volume of large ships entering and leaving Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport (belonging to Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport) will also grow in 2024.

The volume of large-tonnage vessels passing through the port also increased compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, the number of container ships with a deadweight tonnage of over 80,000 tons to 232,000 tons entering and leaving the Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport increased by 9% compared to 2023, estimated at 1,857.

Last year, there were 124 international passenger ships passing through Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport, an increase of 51% compared to 2023 (84). The total number of international ship passengers passing through the region's seaports also increased by 67%, reaching 270,175.

In the growth of the number of large tonnage ships entering and leaving the seaport, related to large tonnage container ships traveling on the trans-Asia route to Europe and the US, up to now, Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority said that it has presided over and coordinated with ship owners, port enterprises, pilot organizations and related enterprises to organize 189 ships with a gross tonnage of over 166,000 tons (including 50 ships with a gross tonnage of over 200,000 tons) to safely enter and leave ports on the Cai Mep - Thi Vai river.
