The IDF confirmed on November 20 that the Biranit base was on fire after being hit by a missile, but there were no casualties in the attack.

Sirens were also sounded in the northern towns of Kiryat Shmona, Manara and Margaliot, the Times of Israel added. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. There were reports of explosions believed to have been caused by missile defense interceptors.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Hezbollah militants were stepping up attacks on Israeli territory, while the country's military was carrying out a ground offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza.

"Since the war against Hamas began, Hezbollah has launched more than 1,000 shells at Israeli targets. However, they have suffered much worse losses. We are repelling their artillery and rocket units, and hitting military facilities and targets. Hezbollah is paying a heavy price every day," Mr. Gallant declared.

Lebanese media on November 18 accused Israeli drones of firing two missiles at an aluminum mining plant in Nabatieh province, causing a large fire at the facility.

This is the first time since the bloody war in the summer of 2006 between Israel and Hezbollah that the Israeli air force has carried out an airstrike on an economic facility deep inside Lebanon, marking a new worrying escalation in the 40-day-long conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

The exchange of fire between the two sides began on October 8, focusing mainly on military targets along the Israel-Lebanon border area.

In addition to the fighting in Gaza and clashes with Hezbollah on the Lebanese border, Israel is also in conflict with Houthi forces in Yemen.

Houthis said on November 19 that they had seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship in the southern Red Sea and taken it to a Yemeni port.

Israel confirmed that the cargo ship seized by the Houthis was operated by Britain and Japan, and warned that the incident was a "terrorist act" with consequences for international maritime security.

The Houthis said there were more than 20 crew members on the ship they were holding. Meanwhile, Israel said the ship had a crew of 25.

The Houthi move comes as the group declares it stands with the people of Gaza against the current Israeli offensive.
