Thai coach recounts terrifying earthquake moment, running from 15th floor

Head coach of the Thai national team Masatada Ishii confirmed that he is safe after the earthquake on the afternoon of March 28. At the time of the incident, the Japanese coach was in an apartment on the 15th floor of the building.

"When the earthquake happened, I thought it would pass soon but everything kept shaking. So I packed my things and ran down from the 15th floor. I'm safe. Thank you for your concern," said Mr. Ishii.

The organizers of One Friday Night, a weekly mixed martial arts tournament in Bangkok, announced the postponement of tonight's event (March 28). The Thai Taekwondo Federation has also suspended ongoing tournaments. The Thai Weightlifting Federation confirmed that all members of the national team training were evacuated in time and no one was injured.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai confirmed that at least three workers had died, while many others may still be buried under the rubble. According to Bang Sue District Police Deputy Chief Worapat Sukthai, many victims were still calling for help from inside the accident scene.
