Layli's victory at the Fanvue competition marks a new milestone in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and opens up discussions about beauty standards and diversity in the technology era.
With nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram and over 45,000 followers on TikTok, Moroccan beauty Layli is all AI-generated, from her image-building to her exemplary acceptance speech.
Layli’s inauguration speech emphasized the importance of AI in driving positive change and creating opportunity. Layli pledged to use her title to promote diversity and inclusion in AI, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access and contribute to this technology.
The first Miss AI pageant attracted more than 1,500 AI programmers from around the world. Contestants were judged on a variety of criteria, including appearance, the level of AI tool application, and social media influence.
Layli was created by Myriam Bessa, founder of Phoenix AI. Myriam will receive $5,000 in cash and other support tools on Fanvue to promote Layli.
The two runners-up are beauty AI Lalina Valina from France and Olivia C from Portugal.
However, many experts have also expressed concerns that such AI beauty contests, along with stylized images, could homogenize beauty standards. This could lead to the promotion of unrealistic beauty standards that ignore the diversity of human beauty.
