Conference to consolidate and reorganize ineffective cooperatives

On May 10, the Provincial Cooperative Union held a conference to consolidate and reorganize ineffective cooperatives; disseminate the 2023 Law on Cooperatives and Government Resolutions and Decisions to support the collective economy .

At the Conference, representatives of the Provincial Cooperative Union reported on the results of a survey on the operation of ineffective cooperatives and proposed solutions to consolidate and reorganize ineffective cooperatives by 2025. To date, there are 123 cooperatives in the province, of which 10 are not in the rural sector, 113 are in the agricultural, fishery, salt production and rural sectors. Each year, the number of newly established cooperatives in the province increases. However, the quality of cooperative operations has not yet ensured the true nature according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives and related documents. Many cooperatives have been established but have not yet grasped the nature and operating model of cooperatives, have not determined the direction and goals of operation, and lack production capital. Therefore, after a period of establishment, cooperatives fall into a state of limited operation and temporary suspension.

At the Conference, delegates proposed solutions to improve the management and operation capacity of cooperatives; apply digital transformation in production and business of agricultural cooperatives; implement the OCOP Program, build new-style cooperatives; promote the role of cooperatives in linking production and product consumption. On this occasion, the Conference also disseminated some new points in the revised Law on Cooperatives in 2023.
