During the 2025 Lunar New Year holidays, maritime activities in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area are still bustling.


According to statistics from Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 (from January 25 to February 2), the volume of goods through the Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport system reached more than 2.3 million tons. The volume of goods in Teu reached 281,393 Teu.

During the holiday period, the regional seaport received 1,658 ships, including cargo ships and tourist ships, with 14,530 international tourists arriving at the seaport.

Cai Mep deep-water port area alone has received 42 large ships with a tonnage of over 100,000 tons. Of which, the ship with the largest gross tonnage was 224,995 tons - length 399.6m).

According to a representative of Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, during the Tet holiday, activities of directing, managing, inspecting and supervising maritime activities and coordinating traffic are maintained continuously and throughout.

The work of ensuring maritime safety and security is actively implemented and closely directed by the Port Authority. The number of vessels operating in the busy area and the activities of the port and vessels are still safe.

In 2024, the volume of goods passing through Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport will grow strongly. Statistics show that the volume of goods passing through the region in 2024 will reach more than 138 million tons, an increase of 23% compared to 2023, and the volume of container goods will reach 10.8 million TEUs, an increase of 34%.

Passenger volume through Vung Tau seaports during Tet holiday reached about 14,530 international tourists.

According to the detailed planning of seaports, ports, wharves, buoys, water areas, and water regions for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport belongs to seaport group No. 4, planned as an international transit gateway port.

Seaports include Cai Mep, Thi Vai, Sao Mai - Ben Dinh, Long Son, Song Dinh wharf areas, international passenger ports in Vung Tau and Con Dao, offshore oil and gas ports and buoys, anchorage, transit, and storm shelter areas.

By 2030, the port's cargo throughput is expected to be from 215 million tons to 236.9 million tons (of which container cargo is from 16.25 million TEUs to 18.25 million TEUs, excluding international transit container cargo). Passenger volume is from 2.67 million to 2.89 million passengers.

With a vision to 2050, Ba Ria - Vung Tau seaport will continue to develop new ports to meet the demand for goods with an average growth rate of about 3.5%/year to 3.8%/year.
