Closing of bridge worth over 260 billion VND across Cho Gao canal, Tien Giang

On the afternoon of October 12, the Tien Giang Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board coordinated with consultants, supervisors, and contractors to close the Cho Gao bridge over the Cho Gao canal in My Tho City and Cho Gao District.

This is a bridge under the project to upgrade and expand Provincial Road 864 (road along Tien River), which started on April 26, 2023. Contractors are striving to complete and put it into use by the end of November 2024.

The bridge project has a total investment of over 263 billion VND, invested by the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Tien Giang province.

According to Mr. Tran Minh Trung, Director of Tien Giang Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, Cho Gao bridge is located in Tan My Chanh commune, My Tho city and Cho Gao district with a length of nearly 600m, a 12m wide bridge surface covered with asphalt concrete.

The bridge has 11 spans, 3 main spans are designed with balanced cantilever, the remaining 8 spans are super T girders. The approach road to the bridge on each side is nearly 300m long, the road surface is 12m wide.

This is one of the items of provincial road project 864 (road along Tien River), from Go Cong Dong district to Cai Be district, Tien Giang province.

Accordingly, the project has a starting point connecting to National Highway 30 in Tan Hung Commune (Cai Be District), the end point connecting to Provincial Road 862 in Tan Thanh Commune, Go Cong Dong District, Tien Giang Province, with a length of more than 111km.

Of which, the newly built section is about 36km, upgraded and expanded over 26km and utilizes the existing road for over 48km. The route runs along the Tien River, passing through 8 districts of Tien Giang province.

Phase 1 (2022 - 2025) will construct the section from My Tho City to Den Do intersection (intersection with Provincial Road 862), Go Cong Dong district and clear the land, from the central budget of 1,200 billion VND, the rest will be invested by the local budget.

Phase 2 (2026 - 2027), from Den Do intersection - to Tan Thanh intersection and from National Highway 30 to Cai Be town, from local budget and other legal sources.

According to Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the project is invested to promote the connection between Tien Giang with Ho Chi Minh City, provinces in the region and the Mekong Delta.

At the same time, connecting the three economic regions of the East, West and urban areas of the province, creating smoothness and further promoting the existing traffic network, promoting regional linkage development, reducing the load on National Highway 1; creating conditions to attract investment, develop industrial parks, clusters, urban areas, tourism , aquaculture...
