Vietnam Railways Corporation said that due to the impact of storm No. 3 and prolonged rain and floods in the northern provinces, the infrastructure and signal information on the routes were severely damaged, and passenger and freight trains had to stop running for repairs.

The railway was affected by prolonged storms and rains, forcing trains to stop running, resulting in a loss of up to 28 billion VND in transport revenue (Photo: Trees fell on the North-South railway during storm No. 3).

In addition, Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that this unit alone had to temporarily suspend 49 passenger trains on the Thong Nhat, Hanoi - Vinh, Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hanoi - Lao Cai routes. The heaviest damage was to freight transport. From September 8-13, all freight trains were stopped due to landslides, rising floodwaters, and blockades on the Lao Cai - Hanoi, Hanoi - Dong Dang, and Quan Trieu routes. Nearly 20 North-South trains between Yen Vien station and Song Than station were also stopped.

This caused Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company to lose about 17 billion in transportation revenue, both passenger and freight transport.

According to Vietnam Railways Corporation, up to now, storms and floods have caused damage to railway infrastructure assets invested by the State of about 130 billion VND; damage to assets invested by enterprises of about 17 billion VND due to 17 locomotives, many vehicles and equipment being flooded and damaged, many supply and demand buildings, roads, accommodation, and offices having their roofs blown off, and walls collapsing...
