Speaking at the session “Towards a peaceful, stable and prosperous world ” held within the framework of the expanded G7 Summit, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) called: “As leaders, we must be courageous and ready to carry out a great revolution to bring about changes and improvements to end war.”

The head of the Indonesian government affirmed that war ultimately only causes damage to the people, saying that all parties want a peaceful, stable and prosperous world, but the current situation is not suitable for this.

Mr. Jokowi also pointed out that “suspicion is growing thicker, confrontation is becoming more intense, war and conflict are still happening everywhere”, in the context of increasingly worrying crises in the world, the common effort to push back war has not made significant progress.

In conclusion, President Jokowi stressed that peace, stability and prosperity are shared responsibilities and goals, and called on world leaders to “make a difference together.”

During a bilateral meeting the same day with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the Conference, the Indonesian President expressed his support for peace efforts in Ukraine and declared his readiness to become a bridge of peace between Moscow and Kiev.

For his part, President Zelensky appreciated Indonesia's role in finding a peaceful solution in Ukraine and recalled President Jokowi's visit to Kiev last year, becoming the first Asian leader to visit the Eastern European country since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The two leaders also discussed the importance of the global food supply chain, a topic that was a major topic of discussion during Jokowi’s visit to Kiev last year. President Jokowi continued to express his support for extending the Black Sea Grain Agreement by two months, saying it was crucial for the global wheat supply chain.

In addition, the two sides also discussed humanitarian assistance, in which Indonesia pledged to contribute to the renovation of one of the hospitals in Ukraine. According to Mr. Jokowi, the Indonesian government is continuing to coordinate with the World Bank (WB) and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health to discuss this plan.
