iPhone 14 Pro Max is out of stock in Vietnam

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên23/03/2024

The iPhone 14 Pro Max was launched in 2022 and will stop production after the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Max from September 2023. Now, this device is starting to fall into a state of shortage and consumers will have difficulty finding the capacity version with the right color as required.

On Apple's official online store (Apple Store) in Vietnam, this device and its "twin" iPhone 14 Pro have not appeared since September last year, replaced by the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max duo. At some authorized dealers (AAR), this product is also in "Discontinued" status or only available in small quantities, not enough choices at local stores outside of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

A representative of an AAR said that because the iPhone 14 Pro Max has been discontinued for a long time, there is a shortage of goods. If sellers want to import more from major distribution channels, they will have to accept higher costs. Therefore, in the current market, places that still sell new products often have to raise product prices to compensate.

Ms. Phung Phuong, representative of Mobile World, confirmed that due to the lack of abundant supply and low inventory, the system is almost out of business with the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Meanwhile, FPT Shop predicts that the remaining inventory will only be enough to serve the end of April if market demand remains as it is now. After "clearing the warehouse", no more imports will be made.

Since their launch, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have not been as "peaceful" as their predecessors, as the price of this series has been constantly fluctuating with the market. At the time of launch, the device was immediately in short supply and showed signs of increasing, with the supply chain being in short supply near the Lunar New Year. After the New Year, the supply began to become more abundant and the price showed signs of gradually decreasing.

After 10 months on the shelves (from October 2022), a standard iPhone 14 Pro Max has dropped in price by 8 million VND - the fastest depreciation rate ever recorded for a newly launched iPhone in Vietnam. There was even a time when dealers accepted to sell at the same price, or compensate for losses (as shared by several small-scale AARs) on each unit sold to stimulate market demand and quickly turn over capital in the context of unusually weak purchasing power.

Exactly one year after its launch, this product "hit rock bottom", losing the 26 million VND mark, but turned around and increased slightly after the launch of the iPhone 15 series and reached about 27 million VND in December 2023.

Mr. Nguyen The Kha, Commercial Director of FPT Shop system, commented that despite the price increase, this device still receives the attention of users because the new generation does not create too many differences in design, while the features and configuration still meet the needs, and has a cheaper price.

However, with the reference price of 27 million VND in December 2023 and the current shortage, some market watchers believe that users should pay an additional 3 million VND to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max when this product line begins to decrease in price after Tet and prepares to enter the annual market downturn that takes place in the second quarter.

Currently, the standard iPhone 15 Pro Max (256 GB) is under 30 million VND at some retailers. At a cheaper price range, around 25 million VND, users will have the option of the 128 GB iPhone 15 Pro. These are all Apple's latest devices, so they will have a longer configuration, features, and support life cycle than the previous model in 2022.
