Reuters reported that on the morning of October 3, Israel conducted an airstrike on the center of the Lebanese capital Beirut, causing a large fire, killing at least 6 people and injuring 7 others.
Footage broadcast on local al-Jadeed television showed thick black smoke rising from the area. The airstrike also caused significant damage to homes and vehicles. Just before the airstrike in central Beirut, Israel carried out three heavy airstrikes on the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Earlier, the Israeli army asked residents of many densely populated areas in southern Beirut to leave after announcing that it would soon launch more attacks on Hezbollah facilities in Lebanon. Israel announced that it had destroyed more than 150 Hezbollah infrastructure facilities in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military also confirmed that eight soldiers were killed in its ground attack on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Seven other soldiers were killed in two separate attacks, and seven were wounded.
