Jordan's King Abdullah II on November 4 called on the international community to reject Israel's escalating measures to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) from operating in the region.

According to the Hashemite Royal Court, during talks in the capital Amman with Estonian President Alar Karis, the King of Jordan stressed the need to increase aid to the Gaza Strip, while ensuring the transfer and distribution of relief by all means to alleviate the “humanitarian disaster” in this Mediterranean land.

Besides, King Abdullah II also warned about the consequences of the dangerous situation in the region.

According to him, Israel's cessation of military actions in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon is an important step to prevent the spread of conflict in the region.

He also called for creating a political vision to achieve peace on the basis of a two-state solution, and appreciated Estonia's support for ending the conflict in Gaza and the region.

For his part, Estonian President Alar Karis affirmed the importance of resolving the current tense political and security situation in the Middle East and Europe.

Previously on October 28, the Israeli Parliament passed a law banning UNRWA from operating on its territory, accusing the organization's staff of supporting the military actions of the Hamas movement.

The law, which will take effect in three months, also prohibits all Israeli agencies from cooperating with UNRWA.
