NDO - Keppel, a leading global asset manager and operator with deep expertise in connectivity and sustainability solutions, has signed a new long-term strategic framework agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to collaborate on data centres, undersea cables and renewable energy, at the regional and global levels.

The agreement was signed in Las Vegas, USA, with the participation of Mr. Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppe, and Mr. Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, at an annual event organized by AWS for the global cloud computing community.

“This strategic agreement with Keppel marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainable digital innovation across Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Jeff Johnson, Managing Director, ASEAN, AWS. “This collaboration demonstrates our shared vision to drive sustainable digital transformation at scale, delivering long-term value to businesses and communities across the region.”

The two parties will collaborate to accelerate the adoption of AI and machine learning across Keppel’s operations through the AI Platform built on Amazon Bedrock. The collaboration underscores Keppel’s commitment to ensuring sustainable operations and developing connected solutions through AWS technology and services. Keppel will also accelerate the deployment of cloud computing and AI solutions across its private funds.

“Our partnership with AWS will help cement our position as a leader in advanced data centre and connectivity solutions. This will not only drive innovation in connectivity, sustainability and AI, but also provide carbon-efficient solutions. This will not only support AWS’ global goals but also enhance Keppel’s technology portfolio. Together, we are driving environmental responsibility and digital innovation in the infrastructure sector,” said Mr Manjot Singh Mann, CEO, Keppel Connectivity.

As part of the agreement, Keppel will also support AWS with its infrastructure, and provide proposals to meet AWS’s infrastructure requirements. This could include providing AI-powered data center capacity, and access to renewable energy projects.

With a shared commitment to sustainability, Keppel and AWS will collaborate on energy technologies to decarbonise power grid systems. This includes deploying low- or zero-carbon energy generation and storage solutions, leveraging Keppel’s extensive expertise in building energy infrastructure and decarbonisation.

This collaboration aligns with AWS’ goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040 through investing in clean energy, scaling sustainable solutions, and collaborating with partners like Keppel.

Based on Vision 2030, Keppel and AWS are collaborating to accelerate generative AI innovation, including a series of workshops on AI Platform design to drive Keppel’s growth strategy.

The platform will leverage key AWS services and serve as a hub for current and future AI use cases. The goal is to improve productivity, provide valuable insights and drive innovation across Keppel’s operations.
