Land of potential
On the sidelines of the 1st Congress of the Nam Thanh Commune Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, which recently took place, there was an area that attracted many delegates to visit. That was the booth displaying and introducing OCOP products and local specialties. At the booth, coconut stalls, banana bunches laden with fruit, jackfruit and durian with fragrant aroma, along with many branded agricultural products... attracted many delegates. Here, we heard and learned more about the fertile land of Nam Thanh, the products bestowed by nature as well as the expectation of rising from the potential and advantages of the locality.
It is known that after the merger (from 3 communes of Me Pu, Sung Nhon, Da Kai), Nam Thanh commune now has a total area of 201.78 km2 , with a population of nearly 37,500 people living in 25 villages. In agricultural and forestry development, up to now, the locality has gradually formed production models applying scientific and technical advances, new technologies combined with developing forms of cooperation, linking production, and processing agricultural products according to the value chain to improve the quality and competitiveness of products. Currently, some agricultural products here have been promoted to build brands, including 10 OCOP products with 3-4 star certification. These include: Thuong Dien Rice - Me Pu, Le Thong Peanut Oil - Me Pu, Durian (Ta Pua - Me Pu, Doi Lo O - Sung Nhon, Da Kai), Sen Tuong Lam - Sung Nhon, Tra Hoa Vang - Da Kai, Thien Phu Premium Bird's Nest - Da Kai... These results were achieved thanks to the locality's focus on investing in and upgrading the canal system, irrigation and intra-field traffic in the entire commune, contributing to increasing the proactive irrigation area to 6,254/4,404 hectares, reaching 142% of the set plan.
The two industrial clusters of Sung Nhon and Me Pu (total area of 40 hectares) have so far attracted new investors in the fields of food production, cashew nuts, wood processing, and fine art ceramics. Among them, there are Da Kai Mineral Water Factory, Phu Tho Binh Thuan Production and Trading Company Limited, Tuhu Company Limited, Minh Phong Company Limited, Hung Tin Company Limited... In addition, there are also a number of processing establishments in the area that have contributed to creating stable jobs for local workers, providing a number of handicrafts for consumption and export.
Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tu - Vice Chairman of Nam Thanh Commune People's Committee said that the locality also has potential for tourism development, especially agricultural tourism associated with experiencing fruit gardens and historical sites in the area.
Hope to rise
Attending and giving a speech at the 1st Congress of Nam Thanh Commune Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Van Quang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Inspection Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee acknowledged and commended the results achieved by the locality in the past term. Besides, he also requested that Nam Thanh Commune Party Committee focus on a number of key tasks, in order to continue to successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in the 2025 - 2030 term.
Accordingly, it is recommended that Nam Thanh should exploit its potential and advantages to the fullest to promote sustainable economic growth and accelerate economic restructuring, encouraging the development of advantageous industries in the locality. Continue to restructure the agricultural sector towards organic farming, applying high technology, linking with the market and value chain. On the other hand, it is also necessary to focus on developing OCOP products, forming specialized and branded areas and enhancing the economic value of the commune's products.
In the coming time, Nam Thanh commune will continue to call for resources to complete the technical infrastructure of Me Pu and Sung Nhon industrial clusters, thereby creating conditions to attract more secondary investors. In particular, it aims to invite capable enterprises, using modern, environmentally friendly technology, suitable for the development orientation and potential industries of the locality...
In the field of tourism, Nam Thanh focuses on effectively exploiting the advantages of natural resources and geography to develop rural tourism, community tourism, eco-tourism, and experiential pond tourism associated with preserving and promoting national cultural identity and local products. In particular, it promotes the advantages of historical and revolutionary relics, mountainous landscapes, and fruit growing areas to attract investment in developing tourist destinations: Lo O Hill, Muoi Nha, Ta Pua, Ro Mo, Ba Tang Waterfall, Da Kai hot spring, along La Nga river...
Determining the planning and investment in infrastructure needs to be one step ahead, therefore, in the coming time, Nam Thanh will allocate appropriate budget resources, prioritizing investment in key projects to create momentum for economic development and social security in the commune. In particular, maximizing the province's resources to deploy investment in key projects, which is the connecting road to Dau Giay - Tan Phu expressway (Da Kai - Ro Mo road connecting from Me Pu - Da Kai road to Tan Phu intersection). Through that, contributing to bringing the potential and advantageous industries and fields of the locality to develop together in the new period.
