International visitors to Phu Quoc during Tet increased nearly 6 times

Kien Giang During the 7 days of Tet, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome 52,000 international visitors, an increase of nearly 6 times in quantity and 8 times in revenue compared to the same period.

The increase in international visitors helped Kien Giang's total tourism revenue reach more than VND1,100 billion, an increase of 8 times compared to the same period in 2023, while room occupancy reached over 66%. The number of international visitors mainly visited Phu Quoc (accounting for 97%). The number of visitors staying in the island city reached nearly 67,000. Meanwhile, domestic visitors reached nearly 140,000, equivalent to last year.

Previously, on February 9 (the 30th of Tet), Phu Quoc welcomed 2,000 tourists from Europe (mainly German nationalities) on the AIDAbella cruise ship from Italy. The cruise ship is over 250 m long, over 32 m wide, and over 45 m high.

The group of tourists had a day to visit Phu Quoc National Park, Hon Thom cable car, small islands near the shore, and a traditional fish sauce village. This was also the second cruise ship to dock at the pearl island in a week. On February 2, the Costa Serena cruise ship chose to visit Phu Quoc with 1,000 tourists, mainly from Thailand.

Kien Giang Department of Tourism assessed that the preparation for serving tourists during the 2024 Lunar New Year has been well prepared by localities and tourism service businesses, with a number of new products being put into operation such as the Show "Kiss the star", "Proposal", "Fun Fest Bazaar Night Market", "Light Park and Snow Forest" and many cultural, artistic and entertainment activities.
