International visitors to Vietnam increased by more than 40% in 10 months

Vietnam welcomed 14.1 million international visitors in the first 10 months of the year, up 41% over the same period last year.

According to data released by the General Statistics Office this morning, international arrivals to Vietnam in October increased sharply, reaching 1.42 million arrivals - an increase of nearly 28% over the same period. In the first 10 months of the year, international arrivals to Vietnam reached more than 14.1 million arrivals, approaching the annual target of 17-18 million arrivals.

According to domestic travel and service companies, the growth in October reflects that Vietnam has entered the peak season for international visitors, from October to March of the following year.

The Philippines is the group of visitors with the strongest growth in October, with nearly 26,000 arrivals, equal to 210% compared to the same period in 2023. Russian, French, Belgian, and Chinese visitors also increased sharply, equal to 150-165% compared to the same period.

The 2022 Statistical Yearbook shows that the average spending of Filipino visitors reached nearly 2,300 USD, leading the 10 international visitor markets with the highest spending in 2019 in Vietnam. Compared to the average of international visitors, Filipino visitors spent twice as much.

China was the fastest growing market in the 10 months, up 230% year-on-year, with more than 3 million visitors. Russian, Italian and Indonesian visitors also saw growth of 140 to 180%.

In terms of quantity, South Korea is still the largest group of visitors to Vietnam with more than 3.7 million arrivals in 10 months - accounting for 38% of international visitors to Vietnam. The number of visitors from this market in October reached 360,000.

The remaining largest tourist sending markets include mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, India, the US, and Australia.
