The bonsai garden with thousands of ornamental plants of all kinds is being meticulously cared for by Mr. Nguyen Van Hue (Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh ) to serve the 2024 Lunar New Year market.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hue (born in 1967, Minh Hoa village, Xuan Thanh commune) is known by many people for his passion for growing ornamental plants and getting rich right on his homeland.
His bonsai garden (potted plants, beautifully shaped) currently has more than 1,100 ornamental plants of all kinds; of which nearly 200 are beautifully shaped yellow apricot, bougainvillea, magnolia, banyan, and si trees... priced from 20 to 70 million VND/tree.
Mr. Hue shared: In 2021, from the capital accumulated over many years of doing tourism business at Xuan Thanh beach, I discussed with my wife to take advantage of the family's nearly 2,000m2 garden to convert it into a bonsai garden. To have a source of bonsai, I went to localities inside and outside the province to look for banyan trees, bodhi trees, and barringtonia trees... naturally to bring back and plant and learn how to shape them.
“ Growing a tree naturally is difficult, shaping it into a bonsai is even more difficult. I had to research through books and learn from the experiences of some bonsai artists in many localities. At first, when shaping, many trees had broken branches and died …” – Mr. Hue said.
To serve the needs of the 2024 Lunar New Year, Mr. Hue is focusing on taking care of dozens of ancient yellow apricot trees, some of which have been paid nearly 100 million VND by customers.
In addition, bonsai types such as: sanh, si, duo, linh san, ngu gia bi, bougainvillea... have prices ranging from 3 million - 20 million VND/tree.
According to Mr. Hue, growing bonsai requires carefulness, meticulousness and perseverance. From ordinary tree roots and flowers, to create bonsai trees, the grower must be truly passionate, understand the characteristics of each type of tree; must have skillful hands, an aesthetic eye to have appropriate care and shaping methods.
For the tree to grow and develop properly for shaping purposes, it is necessary to provide enough water for the tree and fertilize it properly. It is known that on average, each year, Mr. Hue's garden sells about 300 bonsai of all kinds, earning a profit of about 250 million VND.
With his experience, Mr. Hue is always willing to share his secrets of growing bonsai for many people to visit and learn from the model.
