10 students at Nguyen Van Troi High School, Nha Trang City ( Khanh Hoa ) had to be hospitalized due to food poisoning, suspected to be caused by eating chicken rice sold in front of the school.
On April 1, the leader of Khanh Hoa Province's Department of Health said that 10 students had just been hospitalized for food poisoning.
Initial information, the students ate chicken rice on March 30 and 31, then showed the above symptoms, treated at 4 hospitals. They had in common that they ate chicken rice from street vendors in front of the school gate.
Doctor Trinh Ngoc Hiep, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Health, said that currently all patients have no serious developments, are in stable health, and are communicating well.
Doctor Trinh Ngoc Hiep recommends that parents and students limit street food vendors in front of school gates. Schools need to organize canteens to meet students' dietary needs.
Currently, the authorities are coordinating to investigate the incident. The working group has gone to hospitals to investigate the patient's epidemiology, check to identify the food seller, and collect food samples.
Nha Trang City People's Committee also directed inspection of food safety issues throughout the city, especially at boarding schools.
