The ancient Phuc Lam Pagoda (Hoa Lam Vien) is located in Du Noi village (Mai Lam commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi city ). It is a relic dating back to the 11th century, associated with the event of King Ly Thai To moving the capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La.

According to legend, after ascending the throne, the king built a palace in this land, which later became Hoa Lam Vien, to express his aspiration to build an independent and prosperous country.

Through many historical changes, Phuc Lam Pagoda still retains many vestiges of the Ly Dynasty's architectural style, reflecting the cultural and spiritual life and the dynasty's ideology of "protecting the country and bringing peace to the people".

Not only is it a sacred religious space, this place is also considered by historians to be one of the important palaces outside the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a testament to the process of national construction from the beginning of the country's founding.

The restoration and embellishment of Phuc Lam Pagoda not only aims to preserve a part of the golden memories of national history, but also helps connect the past heritage with the present and the future.

According to Vice Chairwoman of Dong Anh District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Tam, this is one of the district's key projects in the 2021-2025 period. The total investment is up to more than 261 billion VND, implemented on an area of about 2.14 hectares.

The project will renovate and embellish main items such as: Tam quan bell tower, Tam bao, To temple, Ta vu - Huu vu house, etc.

Immediately after the District People's Council approved the investment policy in October 2024, the project received close attention from the city and professional comments from leading scientists and archaeologists nationwide.

The assessment and selection of architectural options were carefully carried out to ensure accuracy in the restoration of spaces bearing the imprint of the Ly Dynasty.

The entire project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The project to restore the ancient Phuc Lam pagoda is an important part of the strategy to develop cultural and ecological tourism in Dong Anh along the Red River.

According to the leader of Dong Anh district, the project not only preserves historical memories but also contributes to creating an attractive cultural and spiritual tourism space, gradually forming a cultural industrial value chain.

In particular, the reconstruction of architectural space in the style of the Ly Dynasty will help visitors have a vivid experience of a glorious period of national history.
