After winning the Bronze Medal in the 400m freestyle on the evening of September 29, Huy Hoang sent his greetings and thanks to the teachers in Quang Binh , as well as the fans in Quang Binh and across the country who have followed and accompanied him on his journey.

Huy Hoang expressed his surprise with this Bronze Medal because this is not his forte distance and shared that he dedicated this medal to his teachers who have always been by his side and endured many hardships during the past 3 months to get today's results.

Nguyen Huy Hoang was the athlete who brought home the only medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation on the competition day of September 29.

Sharing about his competition, Huy Hoang said: "My strategy was to swim to conserve energy in the first minutes so that I could accelerate in the last seconds. When I saw my opponent starting to run out of energy, I started to accelerate. I only thought that I would surpass this opponent, but I never thought that I would win the Bronze Medal."

Hoang also said that on the first day of competition, he thought too much about defending his medal and repaying everyone's affection. But after finishing the 1,500m race, he began to change his mind, trying to relieve the pressure and focus on the competition.

My two favorite distances are 800m and 1,500m, and I consider the 400m a new experience for me. After finishing the 800m, I started to feel tired but still tried to compete with the most comfortable mentality.

An impressive acceleration in the final 100m helped the 23-year-old athlete jump from 6th place to 3rd place, with a time of 3 minutes 49 seconds 16 - a result that was enough for Huy Hoang to win his 2nd Bronze Medal at this year's ASIAD, after the medal in the men's 800m freestyle. "Gianh River Otter" is also the only athlete to score for the Vietnamese Swimming team at the 2023 ASIAD.

According to Huy Hoang, achieving the Olympic A standard in the 800m freestyle event "is a great honor" and this athlete aims to be in the Top 8 best swimmers at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After the 2023 ASIAD, Huy Hoang will continue to strive to achieve the 2024 Olympic A standard in the 1,500m event.
