On June 22, Mr. Albin Kurti, head of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, confirmed his participation in negotiations in Brussels (Belgium), organized in an effort to de-escalate tensions.

Sharing on Twitter on June 22, Mr. Kurti affirmed: “Please plan my itinerary from Rome to Brussels tomorrow, confirming my participation in the high-level dialogue, summoned by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU) Josep Borrell. I will firmly demand the release of the 3 policemen held hostage by Serbia, de-escalation and normalization of relations.”
Earlier, Mr. Borrell urged the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo to hold a new round of negotiations on June 22 in Brussels.
Last week, Kosovo authorities imposed a ban on all trucks and goods from central Serbia.
According to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, this ban will leave Serbs in northern Kosovo without food and medicine.
On May 29, there were several clashes between the two sides, when Kosovo police appointed Albanian mayors in several northern cities after elections in April.
Despite being boycotted by the Serbian community, the elections were declared valid despite a voter turnout of only 3.5%.
According to some sources, at least 50 Serbian protesters and more than 30 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) peacekeepers were injured in the clashes.
