The kidnapping of Chinese tourists in Thailand has not stopped, when recently, another missing model shocked public opinion.

A Chinese national who was a model went missing in Thailand after accepting a photo shoot but was luckily rescued, according to the Bangkok Post .

The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok said in a statement that the rescue of a man surnamed Zhong was a joint effort by multiple parties but did not provide further details. The embassy did not provide the victim’s full name or reveal his gender.

However, Chinese media reported last Friday that a 23-year-old Chinese man named Zhong Hao Bin was tricked and trafficked into Myanmar after traveling to Thailand for a magazine cover shoot in early June.

His sister, who received a suspicious call from her brother a few weeks ago while he was at an unknown location in Myanmar, reported him missing to police in Guangzhou and Bangkok, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported.

The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok has warned Chinese citizens to be wary of "high-paying jobs" abroad, while clarifying that Thailand requires foreign nationals to have appropriate permits to work in the country.

The warning comes as concerns grow about human trafficking and fraudulent employment schemes targeting Chinese citizens abroad.

According to the United Nations, criminal networks have trafficked hundreds of thousands of people to smuggling complexes across Southeast Asia, including many along the Thai-Myanmar border, where victims are forced to work in illegal trades.

This latest case recalls a similar one that made headlines in January, when a 31-year-old Chinese actor was tricked into filming in Thailand but was instead kidnapped and taken to an online scam complex in Myanmar to work. He was eventually rescued by Thai police. A 21-year-old male model, Yang Zheqi, was also kidnapped and later rescued...

Following the above incidents, China and Thailand agreed to set up a coordination center in Bangkok to investigate and combat fraudulent syndicates.

Kidnappings of Chinese citizens have caused a sharp drop in the number of Chinese tourists to Thailand in the first months of this year.
