The President of Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, has warned of a new wave of anti-Semitism emerging in the country.

Mr. Haldenwang said that for many years, the number of violent crimes and anti-Semitic crimes in Germany has been consistently high.

However, the current wave of anti-Semitism is even greater. Since October 7 alone, there have been around 1,800 incidents of violence against Jews in Germany, which is a huge number.

Mr. Haldenwang believes that Germany will have to face this new wave of anti-Semitism for a long time. The continued war in the Gaza Strip could lead to further radicalization in Germany. According to this official, the German police force and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution are actively conducting extensive investigations to prevent the plots and criminal activities of extremists, protecting the safety of the German people in general and Jews in particular.
