Instead of being held in the city center, this year Hai Phong will organize the 2024 Red Flamboyant Festival at the Bac Song Cam New Urban Area in Thuy Nguyen District.
The Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Party Committee has just issued a Notice agreeing in principle to select the venue to organize the Art Program "Hai Phong - Light up the heritage land" Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2024 at the Square in front of the Political - Administrative Center in the new urban area North of Cam River.
Currently, focusing resources on building new urban infrastructure north of Cam River is one of the city's key tasks in expanding the city's urban area, in which the area of the Square in front of the Political - Administrative Center has a capacity of about 18,000 people. Along with that, Do Muoi Street has been completed; the 55m road at the Political - Administrative Center is expected to be completed in April 2024. This area is a suitable space to organize major political and cultural events of the city.
Organizing the Red Flamboyant Festival Art Program at the new location is expected to help reduce traffic, creating favorable conditions to attract a large number of people and tourists to attend the important event of the annual Red Flamboyant Festival, instead of the current area of the City Theater Square and the flagpole yard in the Central Strip in the old urban area.
Accordingly, based on favorable conditions in terms of location, space, and traffic, the organization of the 2024 Red Flamboyant Festival Art Program held at the Political - Administrative Center area in the new urban area North of Cam River is appropriate, ensuring the promotion of the value, scale, and quality of the Red Flamboyant Festival and meeting the needs of participation and enjoyment of the city's people and tourists.
The Red Flamboyant Festival's night art program over the past 10 years at the City Theater Square, the capacity of the delegate area and the general audience stands can only accommodate more than 4,000 seats.
Over the past 10 years (from 2012 to 2023), the Night Art Program at the Red Flamboyant Festival has been held at the City Theater Square and the Flagpole Yard in the City Center. The art program held in this area is limited by space, which has affected the scale of the Festival and the need for direct participation of the People and tourists.
It is estimated that the average number of participants in the Art Festival Night Program is about 10,000 people, however, the delegate area and the general audience stands can only accommodate more than 4,000 seats. In addition, the location of the Program is an area with high traffic density, so during the Program, local congestion often occurs; the press area and technical area are limited, affecting the audience's vision and professional work.
According to the actual progress, in April 2024, the area expected to host the "Hai Phong - Light up the heritage" night art program, the 2024 Red Flamboyant Festival at the Political - Administrative Center in the new urban area of Bac Song Cam will be fully guaranteed the necessary conditions for the unit selected to organize the program to deploy the stage installation, the capacity of the area expected to host the program is about 18,000 people.
