(Dan Tri) - The inaugural committee of US President-elect Donald Trump is no longer selling tickets to major sponsors to attend his swearing-in ceremony and accompanying private events in Washington.

President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee has raised a record $170 million for his inauguration, according to people familiar with the matter. That far exceeds the $107 million raised for Trump’s first inauguration and is expected to approach $200 million.

The event attracted so much public attention that even multi-million dollar sponsors were put on a waiting list and may not receive VIP tickets because there were no more seats.

Major sponsors were notified earlier this week that certain events around the Washington area were no longer available for President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

Individual donors and others can still attend the inauguration by receiving free tickets offered to the public through members of Congress .

The US has no limits on the amount of money that can be donated to presidential inaugural committees, but foreign citizens are prohibited from donating.

The presidential inauguration is a crucial time for lobbying, so corporations and wealthy donors are eager to gain influence.

Mr. Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, but related events will begin on January 17. Donors who donate $1-2 million will receive six tickets to six different events. They will also receive two tickets to dinner with Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife.
