In her first time leading the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to an international competition, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa left her mark when she and her students won the right to enter the semi-finals. After defeating the U.21 Canada team in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Future Stars tournament yesterday, the Vietnamese team will face the U.21 Netherlands team in the semi-finals today.

A formidable opponent for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team

The Netherlands U.21 is a highly rated guest team at the tournament because in addition to their physical advantage, they also have a diverse and effective playing style. The Netherlands U.21 players know how to put pressure on their opponents right from the kick-off, organize a tight defense and launch sharp attacks. Therefore, the "orange whirlwind" of the Netherlands U.21 is rated higher than the Vietnamese team when they meet in the semi-finals.

Facing a tough opponent, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa will likely continue to field players in high form such as Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Uyen... Bringing to the Shanghai Future Stars tournament a backup squad without Bich Tuyen and Thanh Thuy will give the remaining players, including young faces, the opportunity to hone their skills and demonstrate their abilities.
