On December 18, according to information from the Department of Transport of Kien Giang province, the unit has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requesting approval to convert Tho Chau fishing port (Phu Quoc city) into an inland waterway port.
From Bai Vong port (Phu Quoc) to Tho Chau, there are currently 5 trips per day, travel time is 5-6 hours.
From there, the enterprise's means of transport will be put into commercial exploitation of fixed-route passenger transport from Phu Quoc to Tho Chau and vice versa.
The Department of Transport will coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Giang province to prepare documents to add traffic functions to Tho Chau port and carry out procedures to announce Tho Chau port according to regulations.
Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority will organize the management of maritime security activities at the port, and grant licenses to monitor the activities of ships entering and leaving the announced area according to regulations.
In fact, at present, Tho Chau port still has transport ships running 5 times a day, with a travel time of 5-6 hours from Phu Quoc to Tho Chau and vice versa, causing many difficulties in traveling for people and soldiers on the island.
Superdong Enterprise is proposing to put high-speed boats into operation on the Tho Chau - Phu Quoc route and vice versa, with a travel time of only 150 minutes.
Previously, as reported by Giao Thong Newspaper, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested the provincial Department of Transport to propose opening a passenger transport route to put the high-speed train of Superdong enterprise into operation.
This is to solve the traffic problem of people and soldiers going in and out of the island quickly and conveniently, contributing to economic development.
