Ms. Loan Tran (in Hoa Binh ) said that the full moon of January (Tet Nguyen Tieu or Tet Thuong Nguyen) is one of the four biggest full moon days of the year for many Vietnamese people. On this day, people often worship their ancestors, heaven and earth, and go to the temple to pray for peace.

Ms. Do Thuy Linh (in Hanoi ) also made a vegetarian offering tray to place on the family altar on the 15th day of the first lunar month. She said that to be in line with the Buddhist spirit, to limit killing at the beginning of the new year, because during Tet people eat too much meat and fish, a vegetarian meal is probably very suitable.

Ms. Vu Thu Huong (in Hanoi) said that the full moon of the first lunar month is also the Thuong Nguyen Festival. This is the month when farmers start preparing to go to the fields. Before going to the fields, they hold ceremonies to show gratitude to their ancestors, pray for favorable weather and good crops.
