At around 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 17, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail occurred in Muong Lat district; although no human casualties were reported, many households suffered property damage.
A house had its roof completely torn off by a tornado.
According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Muong Lat district, 41 households in the district had their roofs blown off.
Specifically, in Quang Chieu commune, 31 households were affected (8 households in Qua village, 3 households in Ham village, 9 households in Pan village, 4 households in Pong village, 1 household in Muong village, and 6 households in Pung village). In Pu Nhi commune, 8 households were affected (1 household in Com village, 3 households in Ca Noi village, and 4 households in Pu Quan village). In Muong Lat town, 2 households in Chieng Cong quarter were affected.
In addition, many agencies and units in the district were also affected by the storm and hail, such as National Defense Economic Group 5, Pu Nhi Kindergarten... There was no damage to trees, crops, aquatic products and traffic infrastructure.
Initial total damage estimate is about 450 million VND.
Hail occurred in Quang Chieu commune.
It is known that the People's Committee of Muong Lat district has sent officials to affected localities to grasp and record the damage in order to have a plan to support the people.
