Torrential rain in Quang Binh, flood rising quickly, more than 15,000 houses submerged in water

Due to the impact of storm No. 6, heavy rain has occurred in Quang Binh province over the past two days, causing floods on rivers to rise rapidly, inundating more than 15,000 houses.


According to Dan Viet newspaper, on the morning of October 28, heavy rain and strong winds continued to occur in Quang Binh province. The rain and floods caused the river water to rise rapidly, causing thousands of houses to be submerged in water and many trees to fall.

Mr. Le Van Nam (in Phu Hai ward, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh province) said: "The flood water rose quickly, my house is quite high but the water has already flooded in. Last night I had to bring my car to the bridge to park, otherwise it would be submerged in water now."

Heavy rain has caused many houses in Kim Thuy commune (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) to be flooded.

"The rain was pouring, the flood rose quickly, my family had to move things up to the attic to avoid flooding. Some chickens and ducks had to be let go with the water and could not be saved," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (in Hong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province).

Authorities are carrying out rescue operations in flooded areas.

According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue and the Steering Committee for Civil Defense of Quang Binh province, the floods have flooded more than 15,000 houses, with the heaviest impact being in the flooded area of Le Thuy (Quang Binh province).

People had to bring their cars onto the bridge to avoid flooding.

In Le Thuy district (Quang Binh province), heavy rain has caused more than 10,500 houses to be flooded. Authorities are urgently assisting people to evacuate people and their property to safety.

In Quang Ninh district, more than 4,000 houses were flooded due to the flood water rising too quickly. In Dong Hoi city (Quang Binh province), 370 households were flooded.

Rain and strong winds caused many trees in Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh Province) to break and fall.

According to authorities, Mr. Le Ngoc Hon (born 2002, in Thanh Son village, Thai Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province) was swept away by floodwaters and went missing while on duty. He was found this morning (October 28).

Mr. Hon was swept away by the water while performing rescue duties in the downstream area of Thanh Son dam, in Thai Thuy commune.
