The Houthi forces in Yemen announced that they had carried out an attack on the US ship OCEAN JAZZ in the Gulf of Aden, using sea-to-sea missiles, reported THX .

In a statement broadcast on al-Masirah TV , Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group "affirms that retaliation against the US and UK attacks is inevitable and any new acts of aggression will be punished."

In addition, the statement also said that the Houthi forces reaffirmed that they will continue to "impose a blockade on Israeli-linked ships, preventing them from passing through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea until a ceasefire is reached in Gaza and the siege of the area is lifted."

Meanwhile, on January 23, AFP reported that the US and UK issued a joint statement saying they had carried out attacks on "eight Houthi facilities in Yemen" in response to the group's continued missile attacks on international commercial shipping and naval vessels passing through the Red Sea.

The Houthis, who control the most populous areas of Yemen, say their attacks are in solidarity with Palestinians under Israeli attack in Gaza.

The Houthi attacks have disrupted global shipping and raised fears of global inflation. They have also added to concerns that the fallout from the Israel-Hamas conflict could destabilize the Middle East.

However, multiple US and British strikes over the past month have failed to stop Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
