Earlier in the day, Mr. Bass traveled to Kiev to meet with Ukrainian officials and other partners to "reiterate Washington's commitment" to Ukraine in its military conflict with Russia.

For his part, Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal thanked the United States for participating in the Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland and supporting Kiev's peace formula.

“We have taken an important step towards a just peace on the European continent,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram.

The two sides also discussed Ukraine's integration into NATO, restoring the energy sector through USAID programs, joint defense production and providing additional necessary weapons, primarily air defense weapons.

Prime Minister Shmyhal also announced that the US will allocate $7.8 billion in direct budget support to Ukraine this year, saying: “This will help strengthen the macro-financial stability of our country.”

Meanwhile, regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, also on June 21, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate security with the US but it must be "comprehensive" and include the Ukraine issue.

Such dialogue is necessary because many issues related to global security are accumulating, Mr. Peskov stressed.

In another development, the Kremlin said that the US decision to ban the use of Kaspersky software is a common move by Washington to damage a company that competes with US companies.

Mr. Peskov also noted that Kaspersky Lab is a "very competitive" company in the international market. This statement was in response to the above move by the US based on the assessment that Kaspersky software can cause security risks.
